We love music and there is a scientific reason why. It creates dopamine in our brains.
No wonder music is so ubiquitous. Certainly musical tastes are influenced by culture, age, and personal preferences, but the outcome of pleasure is universal.
One thing that has changed is how we prefer to buy and listen to music. Sales of physical records and CDs are lower than they used to be, and projected to continue to drop, but digital music opportunities are thriving. Not necessarily new information.
According to Nielsen, 51% of teens have purchased some kind of digital music in the last year and only 31% had purchased a CD. In addition, almost half of US music listeners (48%) find new music through the radio.
The real takeaway is to make sure there is always music playing and get those naturally produced happy chemicals flowing.
