This Snickers campaign does grab attention, but let’s not push it. The first several iterations brought a universally known point to the fore: people get crabby when they’re hungry. We all know it and the TV spots did their job. They highlighted the fact in a most amusing way – by portraying the hungry person as a celebrity known for their crankiness, until they take a bite of their Snickers bar. Now they’re extending the campaign.
If we really stop to think about it, what happens when you take a really hungry person and assuage that hunger with a boatload of sugar? Two minutes of rational followed by a freaky high and then disturbing low of sugar shock that will make you pray to get that hungry person back again. I’m just sayin’ – the sharks made more sense.
