BELLEVUE, NE

B-town was cozy and safe. Not too small, not too big. I was the dishwasher at Bonanza at age 15. I hated Bonanza.

CREIGHTON UNIVERSITY

I received my bachelor’s degree in English, minor in creative writing. My intention was to find a way to make money from writing.

Look, Mom and Dad, I did it!

OMAHA WORLD-HERALD – COLUMNIST

My first job showed my dad I could make money as a writer, and that my English degree would qualify for something other than – in his words – “waiting tables and bartending.”

Newspaper deadlines conditioned me to always be moving forward, to always be thinking and working on the next story.

OMAHA CREATIVE GROUP – COPYWRITER

I wrote a monthly blog called “Dad’s Cooking Tonight,” and that was a blast. I was an untrained chef cooking dinner for my wife and daughters using products from Omaha Steaks.

My concoctions actually didn’t taste too bad. I mean, nobody died, so that was good.

I learned a lot about marketing food, especially beef and seafood. I was surprised to learn Omaha Steaks is also the number one distributor for frozen seafood in the United States. Crazy, right?

BOZELL – MANAGER OF CONTENT DEVELOPMENT

I came to Bozell because I wanted to be a part of a savvy, energetic team of young professionals who are smarter than I am. I’m still teachable, and soaking up their brilliance helps me grow as a writer and a person.

Words to live by: Stranger things have happened.
