For the third year, Bozell built a sandlot on an empty dirt lot to promote the College World Series (CWS). We wanted to provide an interactive atmosphere that got people excited about the upcoming Series. It was complete with a wooden outfield fence, dugouts, bleachers and chalk scoreboard. We provided bases, along with Wiffle balls and bats for people to use. And it was free and open to the public for 12 days!
For the first time, we constructed it in the Aksarben area. Aksarben was a natural pick as it has several large businesses as well as planned, family-friendly events that helped ensure visibility of the field. And with nothing more than a press release, coverage was overwhelming-seeing a 75 percent increase in publicity value. And more importantly, participation was up!
