WEST DES MOINES, IA

You could find me at the football game on any given Friday night. In high school, I worked with the entire store team to set up and train for the grand opening of the Brandeis Department Store. I later worked as a “floater,” filling in wherever I was needed.

IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY

I earned a degree in fashion design and business, and I definitely did not think my future career would be in banking. Yet, I’ve ended up spending 20+ years in financial services.

My husband and I married after we graduated college, and I told him I wanted to live in Minneapolis. So, he got a job in Minneapolis … and then that job moved us six times before we finally ended up in Nebraska.

FIRST NATIONAL BANK – CORPORATE BANK MARKETING, TRAINING & STRATEGIC PLANNING

I realized I wasn’t going to get a fashion design job in the cities we were living in, but I knew there would always be a bank or financial institution no matter where my husband’s job moved us. So, I tapped into my left brain and started my career in banking. I made it a point to learn something new in every city.

For example, In Louisiana I earned my Series 6 license so I could work in investments, and in Virginia I managed the construction loan department.

All that moving may have sparked my love for travel. My husband and I have made a point to visit as many foreign countries as we can, which always makes for great stories. For instance, on one of our earliest adventures, we were navigating the Paris subway, and I forged ahead to catch a train. Unfortunately, my husband and the other couple weren’t quite so ambitious. I turned around to see the doors closing and them still standing on the platform. We eventually found each other, but remember, this was before cell phones.

I’m the planner and my husband just wants to get out of his comfort zone. We’ve visited 23 countries so far, and I’d say the furthest out of my comfort zone was a brief trip to Russia.

FIRST NATIONAL BANK – DIRECTOR OF CORPORATE MARKETING SOLUTIONS

I managed the business side of the marketing team including collaborating with business units in the development of marketing programs focused on targeted customer segments. I actually worked directly with Bozell while in this position, which provided valuable insight when I made the switch to the agency.

Around this time, I started my business, Artistic Order, and began consulting for various companies. I wanted to use more of my right brain, and my consulting business definitely did that. I covered everything for my clients, from reviewing and analyzing 2008-2010 financials in order to meet Tanzania’s government requirements, to developing motion graphics and editing 100+ videos.

I worked in the political arena in Washington D.C. for three years with this business. While I obviously live in Nebraska now, I still own and operate the company.

BOZELL – DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

I now help streamline operational and financial policies and procedures, allowing our other teams to have more time to focus on helping our clients be successful.
