Michael Stevens
Graphic Designer

MILWAUKEE, WI / PANAMA CITY, FL / OMAHA, NE

I moved quite a bit growing up, so I can’t say I feel like I have a hometown. I have grown to love the Midwest, though.

SCHOOL OF THE ART INSTITUTE CHICAGO

I spent freshman year of college studying painting and drawing, along with design.

One of my painting teachers had the mantra “learn to see,” which meant to look critically at the world around you.

Despite being one of the most prestigious art schools in the country, I felt something was missing. I decided to transfer to UNO so I could pursue both design and work toward my private pilot’s license at the same time.
UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA – OMAHA

Working on my Private Pilot’s license, I had to take the private pilot checkride twice. It was a huge blow, but I learned to always get back on the horse and try again when it comes to things I’m passionate about.

I tossed around the idea of becoming an airline pilot after school but eventually decided that graphic design was what I wanted to do.

OXIDE DESIGN – SUMMER INTERN

This experience instilled a sense of confidence in myself as a designer. Design communicates powerful ideas, and as a designer, I have the responsibility to communicate those ideas well. This job was important to my future, as it helped me establish connections that eventually led me to Bozell.

BOZELL – DESIGNER

I’m a graphic designer, so my primary role is handling the visual execution of our projects. We balance guidelines so we can create beautiful work that makes both the team and the client proud.
