Technical Support Engineer

ASHLAND, NE

As a native of Ashland, NE, it was really necessary to embrace the small-town experience. That was a lot easier after I was married with three kids. What seemed boring in my teens felt charming surrounded by loved ones.

Riding my bike from one end of town to the other and hitting “Beer Hill” along the way, you can’t get that in the big city.

SUPPORT DESK SPECIALIST

My tech career started out in a small doctor’s office. There were three old computers, and most days three broken computers. Somebody had to fix them. And with an office manager who was ready to revert back to the abacus, fairly early on that somebody became me. I found that I really enjoyed the challenge of keeping those old beasts up and running.

That’s when my major switched from accounting to Support Desk Specialist – it was like a calling.

MEDICAL AND CLAIMS EXAMINER

My passion for keeping technology up and running stems from a drive to beat every challenge as well as a well-grounded education in customer service. That education originated at a job as a medical and claims examiner for a health insurance company. I was on the losing end of virtually every phone call – but I could take a “I don’t know what you people think you’re trying to do” beginning and evolve it into a “thank you so much for helping me” ending virtually every time! I always say “make at least one person a day smile.”

TECHNICAL SUPPORT ENGINEER

Those who know me know that I will do whatever I can to help, but I can’t tolerate drama. You might find that amusing when you figure that: I now work in an ad agency, I’m raising my three kids, first one and then a set of twins – all born within a 2-year period, as a single mom.

And when life gets stressful, I hop on my cherry red Honda Rebel and burn rubber until my worries fade into the dust.

Over 30 years in IT Help Desk customer service has taught me how to take the most panicky of folks and enable them to breathe, sometimes even laugh. We may not have a complete fix at that moment, but at least we’ll find a workaround.

Words to live by: Everything happens for a reason. We can handle this.
