Primary Responsibilities
- Works cohesively with all team members and contributes to a positive, supportive agency culture.
- Work with art director(s) and creative director(s) to develop compelling concepts and campaigns in a wide variety of media formats that drive results.
- “Own” the development of copy throughout all phases of a project.
- Produce copy that goes beyond mentioning product attributes and demonstrates a true understanding of audience needs.
- Create/maintain a writing style for each brand that reflects the overall positioning and project strategy.
- Maintain knowledge of each client’s products, services, competitors and industry.
- Take input and direction from creative director(s) to improve and adjust messaging.
- Research macro-trends and audience preferences when the need arises.
- Give appropriate direction to production partners, voice talent and actors while on set or in studio.
- Project professionalism and confidence when interacting with clients.
- Co-strive with team members to deliver creative assets that exceed expectations.
- Assure that all assets are checked and proofread at the draft and final stages of each project, allowing a “fresh set of eyes” to examine the work.
- Assist in writing proposals, marketing plans, publicity, etc., as requested.
- Contribute original material to agency blog on a regular basis – we’re all thought-leaders here.
- Maintain current software skills compatible with the needs of other creative team members.
Requirements
- BA/BS in communications, marketing or advertising or equivalent.
- 3-5 years of agency experience.
- You’re really a great person who enjoys working with other considerate, talented, inventive individuals.
- A remarkable portfolio that demonstrates conceptual thinking and copy that connects to each audience. Bonus points for sketches that show your thought process.
- Understands integrated messaging throughout campaigns in all forms of media.
- Skill in multiple forms of writing such as headlines, scripts, names, taglines, social ideas and long-form copy.
- A flexible writing style that can match the tone and voice of each client.
- Adept at distilling audience insights into simple, strategic and creative messaging.
- The capacity to successfully ideate individually or within a group.
- Drive to ensure concepts match the creative brief and positioning, as well as client and agency expectations.
- Ability to communicate ideas and strategy within the creative team, the agency and with clients.
- Capable of delivering multiple concepts per assignment for internal and client selection.
- Expert understanding of English grammar with a keen eye for proofing.
- Ability to successfully handle multiple projects at once, meet deadlines and take direction.
- A worldview of consumer beliefs and attitudes with the self-knowledge that this worldview will adapt as the culture changes.
