Use Behavioral Targeting to Hit Prospects with a Message They Care About

February 8th, 2010

Behavioral targeting gives you the ability to show ads online only to those people most likely to be interested in them based on learning and insights relative to their past behaviors. How does it work?

You have the ability to hit consumers with the right message, a message that they care about. For example, if a customer registers with an e-commerce site to make a purchase, those sales along with the user’s site navigation history are often stored and analyzed to make targeted offers the next time. Even without registration, the site might place that information in a cookie, which is saved on the customer’s hard disk. When the user revisits the site, the cookie is sent to the web server.
