An Omaha Favorite

August 3rd, 2017

As I reflect on my intern experience thus far, the only sandwich I can use to describe my experience would be a Reuben. Because, not only is it my favorite sandwich ever, but this has also been my favorite summer ever.

Growing up, summer was all about no work and all play. Unfortunately, as I got older, it turned into working summer jobs and internships to pay for gas money so I could go out with friends. This summer, however, was very different. It was all work with lots of play – a totally new concept to me.

I came into my first day at Bozell scared and nervous that I wouldn’t know enough about media to do well and that everyone would think I was dumb. I couldn’t have been more wrong. I have never worked somewhere where the people are so nice and helpful. Every question I have is answered with a smile and a kind eagerness to help.

This internship has given me a great deal of confidence. Confidence in my knowledge of and ability to work in media, but also in myself to ask questions and not be afraid to learn. Bozell is a place where the work is fun because the people are fun. They work hard and they play hard, and they are good at doing both.

So much like a classic Omaha Reuben, this has been a classic Omaha summer interning at a place that made me excited to get up and go to work every day. In the last couple of months, I have learned how to work hard, play hard, and how to learn something along the way – making this summer one I will never forget.
